Two sides of the brain, left side, reason and logic, which will be your best instrument, all the information that you receive will go there, so this side needs lots of learning and time... and a leash for some whipping sometimes. The software that you use, the knowledge that you have in so many subjects, how phi and the golden ratio define form and proportion, the maths behind the form of a leaf, or the geometry of a composition, the muscles of a gesture, or how to calculate a font for example.
The other is the interesting one, at least for this matter. Right side, creativity, ethics, the big picture, all that will guide our manifestation in our case doing Art, through the left side, here is where the emotions and feelings of the right side can direct the whole info army of the left brain side. Then a what if? conversation beggings between both sides, both doing what they do best in total harmony.
Sometimes I see what in my opinion is a misconception of the artists way, we are seen and even people who dedicate their lives to some form of art see themselves as okay to stay in this 100% state of drawing and creating without any real academic auto-formation. In my opinion Art comes when you can feel and see the ying and yang in a work, the feeling and the execution, the concept and the production or whatever name you wnat to give it, it does not matter. And it goes the same for the funniest cartoon or the most deep art piece. Empiric learning is necessary for me too, but just as part of a bigger learning cycle.
Here I reach another point, which is live your life!! not anyone else's or what you are told. What will you speak about then? In my case, if I don't take MY time to accumulate some entertainment satisfaction and peace, in other words, go out and enjoy everything, I just simply go crazy and I can't really work. Don't we all?
